New Delhi: Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was fined by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his side’s clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025 on Tuesday. Maxwell was penalised for a Level 1 offence under article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct.
Punjab Kings bagged their third win in IPL 2025 after beating Chennai Super Kings by 18 runs at their home ground – Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. The hosts rode on a brilliant knock of 103 runs from young opener Priyansh Arya to post a huge total of 2019 runs before their bowlers did well to defend it successfully.
Following their victory, Punjab Kings star Maxwell was fined and accepted the match referee’s sanction. “Glenn Maxwell admitted to the Level 1 offence under article 2.2 (abuse of fixtures and fittings during the Match) and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” IPL said in a release.
Maxwell became the first Punjab Kings player to be fined for a code-of-conduct breach in IPL 2025. A number of players, including the likes of Rishabh Pant, Riyan Parag and Hardik Pandya have all been penalised so far this season for breaching the Code of Conduct. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinner Digvesh Rathi has been fined twice for his celebrations.
