Mumbai: Ayodhya is set to witness an extraordinary Ram Navami celebration this year, with divine and elaborate preparations being made by the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. While Ram Navami is traditionally marked by grand festivities across all temples and monasteries in Ayodhya, this year’s celebrations hold special significance as it marks the second consecutive year of large-scale events following the consecration of Lord Ram’s idol in 2024. The trust has released a detailed, minute-by-minute schedule to ensure smooth execution of the festivities.
One of the key highlights will be the hour-long abhishek (ritual bathing) of Ram Lalla, followed by a four-minute Surya Tilak — a ritual where sunlight will symbolically grace the idol’s forehead. Devotees can also expect the offering of 56 bhog (sacred dishes). With an anticipated surge in pilgrim footfall, the trust has commenced extensive arrangements for devotees’ comfort, including enhanced decoration, basic amenities, and climate-control measures to combat the rising heat in Ayodhya.
Enhanced Facilities and Devotional Activities
Following the idol’s consecration, the temple has seen a constant flow of thousands of devotees each day. For Ram Navami 2025, the number is expected to rise significantly. The trust has begun installing floor matting to keep surfaces cool and is setting up nearly 200 drinking water points along the entire darshan (viewing) path, offering both chilled and regular water. Coolers will be placed along the roads, and areas where devotees gather during breaks in darshan or aarti will be fitted with special fans that spray a fine mist of water to keep the surroundings cool.
According to Shri Champat Rai, Secretary of the Ram Temple Trust, daily recitations of the Valmiki Ramayana and Ramcharitmanas will take place inside the temple. Offerings (ahutis) will be performed daily in the Yagyashala, and a continuous nine-day discourse on Lord Ram’s life by Atul Krishna Bhardwaj will be held at Angad Tila. Due to the high temperatures, fresh floral decorations will be limited, though electric adornments and the lighting of oil lamps will still form part of the celebration.
