New Delhi: The celebrations for the first-ever title triumph of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) turned into a tragedy as 11 people lost their lives and over 50 injured were because of a stampede. The incident took place outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium as the Royal Challengers were celebrating their IPL victory inside.

Scores of fans had gathered outside the cricket stadium and were trying to get inside when the tragedy took place outside. As chaos unfolded outside the stadium and news spread like fire, the celebration was continued inside the premises as the RCB and all the people gathered were undeterred by the happenings outside.

Fans took to social media to ask why the celebrations inside continued while people were fighting for their lives. From some calling them inhuman to the others criticising the IPL franchise for their celebration, people were all over the social media not only slamming the team but the entire organisers and the police force.

Meanwhile, in the videos that were circulated online, police at the scene was seen transporting the injured to ambulances as they were shifted to the nearby Bowring Hospital. Police also stated that the ambulances were unable to move quickly to the hospital due to the overcrowding on the roads.

The government of Karnataka had earlier cancelled the victory parade from Vidhana Soudha to Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium, citing security reasons.
