Real Madrid news: Eduardo Camavinga ruled out for three weeks with muscle injury

New Delhi: Real Madrid has been hit with a blow as star midfielder Eduardo Camavinga faces a spell on the sidelines. The 22-year-old suffered a muscle injury in the biceps femoris of his left leg during Thursday’s dramatic 5-2 Copa del Rey victory over Celta Vigo. Despite finishing the match, Camavinga’s discomfort was confirmed through medical tests.

Though the club statement refrained from providing a recovery timeline, reports in Spain suggest the Frenchman is expected to miss three weeks of action.

Eduardo Camavinga to miss key matches

This setback couldn’t have come at a worse time for Real Madrid, with several important fixtures ahead. Camavinga is set to miss La Liga matches against Las Palmas, Real Valladolid, and Espanyol. Additionally, he’ll be absent from the Champions League group-stage games against RB Salzburg and Brest, as well as the Copa del Rey quarter-final. His availability for the much-anticipated derby against Atletico Madrid on February 9 remains uncertain.

The Frenchman’s absence leaves manager Carlo Ancelotti with limited options, as Camavinga also serves as a backup left-back. Midfield adjustments will likely see Aurelien Tchouameni paired with Fede Valverde in a double pivot, while Dani Ceballos and Luka Modric may feature more prominently. Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy will have to shoulder responsibilities in the left-back position.

Camavinga has faced multiple injuries this season, including a knee problem that ruled him out of the UEFA Super Cup and a muscle issue in November. Despite these challenges, his performances have been key to Madrid’s campaign.

Real Madrid now faces a congested fixture schedule with little room for error. While their recent win over Celta Vigo secured a Copa del Rey quarter-final spot, losing Camavinga will test the squad’s depth. Fans will hope for his timely return, especially for the crucial clash against Atlético Madrid.

Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga has been sidelined with a muscle injury, ruling him out for three weeks. He will miss key La Liga, Champions League, and Copa del Rey matches.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
