Reporter underestimates Bumrah’s batting abilities, watch the vice-captain’s reply

New Delhi: Jasprit Bumrah is proving to be India’s saviour time and again during misery as he picked up a fifer against Australia in the first innings of the third Test being played at the Gabba in Brisbane. Not only is he battling the Aussie players on the field but also the undermining questions of journalists during press conferences after the end of the day.

After Stumps were called on Day 3 (Monday), Bumrah entered the press room on behalf of Team India and answered some pertinent questions. The visitors were again put in trouble by the Kangaroos as they reduced India to 51/4 in 17 overs. The batting woes of the Men in Blue again became a talking point and as Bumrah captained the team during the first Test, a journalist asked him about the team’s batting assessment, adding that although he isn’t the best to answer this.

“What’s your assessment on the batting, although you’re not the best to answer this,” the journalist asked. “You’re questioning my abilities with the bat? You should Google and see who has the most runs in a single over in Tests (laughs),” Bumrah replied. The response has gone viral on the internet as fans are falling in love with Bumrah’s humour as well other than his bowling masterpiece.

Rain delays proceedings

As the third Test began in Gabba, the rain gods interrupted the play soon, and the whole day was washed out as it poured down heavily. However, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy fanatics got to witness a full-fledged second day which was highlighted by the tons of Steven Smith and Travis Head, as both strengthened Australia to 445 as their first innings score.

Bumrah was the lone warrior for India as he bagged a six-wicket haul but couldn’t stop the two outrageous batters. He finally got rid of the two late during the day before Alex Carey brought in another onslaught of 88-ball 70. India were expected to start on a positive note but Mitchell Starc breathed fire, removing Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill while while Josh Hazlewood got rid of star batter Virat Kohli. Rishabh Pant departed as the last wicket of the day before rain played spoilsport.

Jasprit Bumrah led India to a momentous victory in the first Test against Australia in Perth and has been pursuing the role of a vice captain since the return of regular skipper Rohit Sharma.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
