New Delhi: Sanju Samson is part of the Indian men’s cricket team in white-ball formats and also leads Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Kerala wicketkeeper-batter made his IPL debut in 2013 for the 2008 IPL champions. He is the team’s most leading run-scorer (3934 runs) as well as most capped player (146 matches) at present.
Samson took over Rajasthan Royals captaincy ahead of IPL 2021 after the franchise released Australian batting great Steve Smith from the squad. The top order batter has led RR in 61 matches and has won 31 matches and lost 29.
However, there was a strange time when the franchise and the player were close to have a fallout. Ahead of the IPL 2022 season, the Twitter (now X) handle of Rajasthan Royals shared a funny post featuring Samson with some filters applied to the post.
It didn’t go well with the Royals skipper and he publicly asked the franchise to professional before unfollowing the team’s official Twitter handle.
“Its ok for friends to do all this but teams should be professional… @rajasthanroyals” Samson wrote on his X handle back then.
Rajasthan Royals deleted the tweet after Sanju’s response.

Rajasthan Royals fired its social media team
Rajasthan Royals took a strict action following Samson’s blasting at the post. The franchise issued a statement that they will change the social media team.
“In light of today’s events, we will be making changes to our approach and team on social media. Everything is well within the squad ahead of the first game as the boys prepare for SRH.”
In a video, CEO Jake Lush McCrum was seen informing the social media admin about the decision to sack him/her even though they thanked the person for his/her services. It was one of the weirdest episodes in the IPL between a player and content team.
