New Delhi: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who was supposed to travel with the rest of the team to Australia, has stayed back in Mumbai ahead of crucial Border-Gavaskar Trophy. As per some media reports earlier, Rohit, who’s expected to miss the first Test match at Perth due to the birth of his second child, had decided to travel to Australia along with the rest of the team for some practice sessions and then return to Indian for his personal duties and eventually, travel back.
The Indian team departed to Australia for the crucial five-match Test series in two batches couple of days back but Rohit decided to stay back. On Wednesday, some reports floated on social media with pictures of Rohit practicing in Mumbai for the crucial Test series. As per a report published in Times of India, Rohit was spotted practicing at the Reliance corporate park on Wednesday.
Rohit wants to make full use of time
The report further mentions that the Indian skipper wants to make full use of the time here in India only and get ready for the tough series against Australia. This is expected to be the reason why the Indian batting stalwart didn’t go to Australia as travelling to there and then coming back and then again travelling back for the second Test would have been hectic for the batting superstar.
Rohit has been utilising the full facilities at the RCP and the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for polishing his batting skills for the upcoming series. Meanwhile, there is no clarity on his exact date of travel to Australia and whether he will be able to participate in the second Test match or not. It all depends on how things shape up in his personal life.
