New Delhi: Team India stars Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal have made big gains in the latest ICC Test rankings released on Wednesday. India have not played a single Test match since March 2024 when they faced England in the five match series at home. Even after not playing a single Test match since last 6 months, the trio has jumped one spot each to strengthen the position among the top 10 batters.
Rohit is the highest-ranked batter among Indians as he sits on the fifth position with 751 rating points. Young sensation Jaiwal and veteran Kohli follow him closely at the sixth and seventh places respectively with 740 and 737 rating points. After Harry Brook failed twice in the third and final Test match against Sri Lanka, the three Indian players benefitted from the failure. England lost at the Kennington Oval in London earlier this week and Brook managed only 19 and 3 runs.

Meanwhile, seasoned English batter Joe Root is very close to getting his all-time best ratings after the last update.
Even after an average show with the Sri Lankan side, where he only scored 25 runs in two innings, he is still retaining his top spot with 879 rating points to his name. Meanwhile, the Indian trio is expected to climb higher in the rankings keeping in mind the Test series against Bangladesh.
