New Delhi: Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that David Moyes is doing a better job at Everton than he is at United. Amorim will go head-to-head with Moyes tonight at Goodison Park in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off.
The Red Devils sit 15th in the points table, having won only four of their 14 league games since Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford in November. In contrast, Everton has experienced a revival under Moyes. Since replacing Sean Dyche, the veteran Scot has secured four wins in six matches, lifting the Toffees 13 points clear of the relegation zone.
United’s struggles under Amorim
United remains behind their hosts, as Amorim has been unable to turn around the sinking ship he inherited from Erik ten Hag. This season marks United’s worst Premier League campaign in 51 years. At Goodison Park, Amorim aims to halt their shocking decline, and in his pre-match press conference, he acknowledged Moyes as a benchmark for success.
The former Sporting manager stated, “David Moyes is doing a better job than me, it’s quite simple. We have to give credit to the Everton players and especially to their coach. We need to do the same.” He praised Moyes’ work in transforming Everton, noting the confidence and belief now evident in the team.

Challenges at Old Trafford
For United, struggles at both ends of the pitch have been a major concern. They have managed only seven clean sheets while scoring just 28 goals so far.
Amorim has been vocal about his preference to have joined the club in the summer, allowing for a full pre-season to shape the team. The 40-year-old also acknowledged that the legendary presence of Sir Alex Ferguson continues to cast a long shadow over Old Trafford, even more than a decade after his retirement.
“It shows this is a difficult job,” Amorim said. “We have to understand the history. This club had a figure in Sir Alex Ferguson that you cannot replace. Everything was connected to one person, and when that person leaves, it’s really hard.”
Speaking to Rio Ferdinand ahead of the match, Amorim admitted, “If you told me I would win only 4 in 14, I wouldn’t have believed you. I would have said you are crazy.”

Return of key players
Amorim has received a much-needed boost ahead of the Everton clash, with Leny Yoro, Manuel Ugarte, and Christian Eriksen returning to the squad after missing the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham last weekend. Yoro and Eriksen have recovered from illness, while Ugarte has shaken off a knock, strengthening United’s options after Amorim was forced to rely on an inexperienced bench against Spurs.
