New Delhi: West Indies veteran Kieron Pollard was at his best in a Caribbean Premier League 2024 match as he punished Keshav Maharaj ruthlessly showing his class once again. Pollard, who represented Trinbago Knight Riders in the 28th match of CPL 2024 against the Barbados Royals at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad, smashed 42 runs off just 27 deliveries, taking his team out of danger.
Barbados Royals skipper Rovman Powell won the toss and put the Knight Riders to bat. The start of the innings was far from expected for the Knights, as they lost three crucial wickets early on in the innings, leaving them tottering at 35/3 in the fifth over. Veteran Pollard and Keacy Carty came to the team’s rescue, turning the tide of the Knight Riders.

Together the duo stitched a partnership of 70 runs, bringing Knight Riders back into the game, after the fall of Nicholas Pooran. While his entire knock was pleasant to watch but the 13th over of the game bowled by Maharaj stole the show at the stadium. The legendary Windies player smashed the South African spinner for three consecutive sixes, changing the mood of the entire stadium as he unleashed his beast mode and showcased his power-hitting abilities.
The swift acceleration from the West Indies veteran changed the momentum of the game as this push helped the side cross the 170-run mark in the innings.

The innings from the duo proved to be useful as it helped the Knight Riders win the contest by a margin of 30 runs. Knight Riders, who scored 175, stopped the Royals at 145/9 in the stipulated 20 overs. Akeal Hosein was named the Player of the match for picking three wickets.
