New Delhi: India women bounced back with a classical effort as they thrashed arch-rivals Pakistan in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 encounter in Sunday. Leaving behind their heavy defeat against New Zealand in the tournament opener, the Women in Blue regathered themselves to put up an all-round show in Dubai, beating Women in Green by 6 wickets and 7 balls to spare.
Bowling first, India were clinical in their efforts of restricting the opposition to a low score as the bowlers put up a remarkable show to stop Pakistan at 105 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. While it seemed to be an easy chase but proved otherwise as the match got all down to the second-last over, with India facing difficulty in the chase in the last few overs.

But with a clear intent and the aim to conquer the rivals, they continued their efforts till the last which eventually got them the game. India next face Asian champions Sri Lanka on Wednesday in their Group A encounter before locking horns with defending champions Australia. Winning the next two clashes becomes crucial for the Women in Blue if they have to progress towards the knockout stage.
