Sanju Samson reveals why RR signed 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi for IPL 2025

New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson explained why the franchise signed 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Vaibhav got the spotlight after scoring the fastest century in the U19 Test match against Australia in October.

On the back of his destructive innings, Rajasthan Royals (RR) bought Vaibhav for Rs 1.10 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

He is also doing well in the domestic cricket. Vaibhav made his Ranji Trophy debut for Bihar last season, the batter has now etched his name in history books by becoming the youngest Indian cricketer to play List-A match. He broke the record after making his Vijay Hazare Trophy debut for Bihar against Madhya Pradesh. At the age of 13 years and 269 days, he broke the record of Ali Akbar who made his debut in List A cricket at the age of 14 years and 51 days for Vidarbha.

‘Rajasthan Royals want to make sure that the franchise is giving enough champions to Indian cricket’: Sanju Samson

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson spoke highly of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and said that he has seen his batting highlights and all the people in Rajasthan Royals also saw him bat in the match against Australia where he scored a hundred in just 60-70 balls. He further added that the shots he played there were special and as a franchise, they want those kinds of individuals in the team.
