‘Sar mein kuch hai’: Rohit Sharma loses cool at Akash Deep after big wide – WATCH

New Delhi: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was cut a frustrated figure on the field as Australia’s tail-enders along with wicket-keeper Alex Carey made the visitors toil hard for wickets after resuming their first innings on Day 3 of the third Test between the two sides at the Gabba, Brisbane. Rohit was spotted losing his cool at Akash Deep after the Indian pacer bowled back-to-back wides while bowling against Carey.

The incident happened in the morning session on Day 3 when Carey was batting with Nathan Lyon towards the end of Australia’s first innings. In the 114th over, Akash Deep missed his line twice and ended up bowling two consecutive wides. The first wide was followed by a bigger wide on the next delivery, handing Australia an extra run as Rishabh Pant dived full stretch to stop a boundary.

Akash Deep’s wayward bowling didn’t go down well with Rohit, who was seen venting out his frustration on the pacer after his big wide. “Abbe sar mein kuch hai? (Is there anything in your head),” Rohit was heard shouting at Akash on the stump mic. A clip of the incident was shared by Star Sports on their social media handles.

Akash Deep ended up conceding 4 runs in the over but managed to bounce back by dismissing Carey on the final delivery of Australia’s innings. A short ball did the trick for the Indian pacer as Carey was caught by Shubman Gill after playing a sublime knock of 70 runs off 88 balls with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Akash Deep did bowl well in patches and pitched the ball in the right areas to probe the Aussie batters but had little to show for his efforts in Australia’s first innings as he ended up conceding 95 runs in his 29.5 overs while managing only a solitary wicket.

Australia on top in 3rd Test against India

Australia are comfortably on top in the 3rd Test against India at the Gabba after posting a strong total of 445 runs in their first innings and reducing the visitors to 51/4 in just 17 overs at stumps on Day 3. On a rain-marred Day 3, Australia continued to dominate the proceeding as their pacers ran riot against India by decimating the visitors’ top order.

Mitchell Starc dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill in quick succession before Josh Hazlewood sent Virat Kohli packing on 3. Pat Cummins joined the party by dismissing Rishabh Pant cheaply on 9 as India were reduced to tatters, trailing Australia by 394 runs at stumps on Day 3.
