New Delhi: Sarfaraz Khan continued his fine form in England with a century for India A on Day 2 of the intra-squad practice match in Beckenham. The practice match between India and India A is being played behind closed doors as the players gear up for the all-important five-match Test series against hosts England, which is set to get underway on June 20.

Playing for India A, Sarfaraz, who is not part of India’s main squad for the England series, showcased his rich vein of form with his terrific ton. The 27-year-old smashed a century off just 76 balls in the game, taking the India bowlers to the cleaners. Sarfaraz’s dazzling knock was laced with 15 fours and two sixes as it helped India A post 299/6, in response to India’s first innings total of 459 runs in the intra-squad practice match.

Sarfaraz was arguably the best performer with the bat for India A on Day 2 of the intra-squad match. The 27-year-old retired after his ton to allow others to spend time in the middle. Earlier, the Mumbai batter had smashed a brilliant knock of 92 runs in the unofficial Test match against England Lions to prove his pedigree in English conditions.

However, as it stands, Sarfaraz remains out of India’s main Test squad and will not be taking part in the five-match series against England. It remains to be seen if the batter with stay with the main squad in reserves to serve as a back-up in case of an injury. The 27-year-old has so far played six Test matches in his career and has 371 runs to his name at an average of 37.10.

Sarfaraz also worked hard on his fitness and shed weight in a bid to prepare for the England Test series. His exclusion from the squad left many surprised. However, he has managed to garner the team management’s attention with his impressive show with the bat in the warm-up matches in the lead up to the England Test series.

Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan, who was snubbed from India’s Test squad for the England series, smashed a blazing ton for India A in their intra-squad practice match against India. Jasprit Bumrah went wicket-less with the ball on Day 2 of the practice match.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
