The report further mentions that there are few big names that are being considered, including some former domestic cricket biggies. However, there is no final confirmation for the same.

Decision being taken in aftermath of BGT loss

The decision is being taken in the aftermath of the loss India faced in Australia in the recently-concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy. While the loss against New Zealand in the home Test series was a lesson, the BGT loss came as an eye opener which hit the Indian cricket board badly. While the bowling was fine to an extent, there was heavy criticism of the role and functioning of the coaching staff, particularly with big players like Virat Kohli getting out in similar fashion regularly.

At present, India’s coaching staff consists of Morne Morkel (bowling coach), Abhishek Nayar (assistant coach), Ryan ten Doeschate (assistant coach) and T Dilip (fielding coach) besides the head coach Gautam Gambhir.
