New Delhi: Pakistan batter Saud Shakeel showcased his class in the longest format of the game after smashing a blistering century in the first Test match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. Saud, who was unbeaten on 57 at the end of play on the first day, reached to his ton on the second day, solidifying his place in the batting list of Pakistan.
Pakistan, who lost the first three wickets quickly batting first on Day 1, were rescued by Saud who stitched useful stands with Saim Ayub and Mohammad Rizwan later to steady the ship for the hosts. Saud scored 141 runs in 261 deliveries including 9 boundaries helping Pakistan get out of the danger mark. Earlier on the first day, Shakeel became the joint-fastest Pakistan player to complete 1,000 runs in Test cricket. He achieved the mark in his 20th innings
Saud receives standing ovation form team
His innings was unfortunately cut short by Mehidy Hasan Mirza as Bangladesh celebrated the dismissal of the most prized batter in the innings. As soon as his reached his ton, Saud received a standing ovation from Babar Azam and team for the way he navigated and played the innings.
