New Delhi: The starting of Serie A season always creates a tremendous amount of buzz thanks to it’s reputation of producing some of the best traditional football action. This time it is no different as we head towards the new campaign of free flowing Italian football involving some of the most talented footballers in the world. Last season was totally dominated by the Inter Milan who went on to lift their 20th Scudetto with a fantastic league campaign, losing just two of their games throughout the campaign.
It was a dominant performance by the Nerazzuri, who will be looking to defend their title this time around. We had some top class performances from top class players last season and this time it won’t be any different with these players ready to fire in for their clubs and perform. So here’s a look at some of the players who will be looking to carry their top form from the previous campaign and their recent involvements in the international campaigns for their respective nations, into the 2024-25 Serie A campaign.
Lautaro Martinez
Lautaro Martinez had a wonderful year for his club Inter Milan as well as for his national side Argentina. The centre forward was a complete menace last season with his sharpness in front of the goal for both club and country. The lethal Argentine was without a doubt one of the best strikers in Europe last season with a total of 24 goals in Serie A, most by any player in the league. He carried this form into the Copa America campaign, scoring five times to be Argentina’s main man, leading them to the Copa America title.
However, a new season unfolds for the Scudetto winners and Martinez yet again has a big role to play being the front line striker for the Nerazzuri. The expectations are high from the Argentine and he will be looking to shine yet again for the defending campioni.
Teun Koopemeiners
Koopemeiners had a wonderful Serie A season where he was one of the top performing midfielders in the league. The 26 year old had 17 goal involvements last season, where he scored an impressive total of 12 goals while providing five assists throughout the season. Atalanta had a good season where they managed to get a top four finish clinching their champions league spot for next season and Koopemeiners was one of their top performers who helped them achieve this.
Koopemeiners’ future at Atalanta looks uncertain as another Italian giant are ready to submit their bid for the Dutch international. Juventus are hoping to get the Dutch midfielder’s signature before the season starts as they look to strengthen their midfield for next season and the addition of Teun Koopemeiners would do wonders for the Old Lady.
Paulo Dybala
The Argentine’s season truly went under the radar, but Dybala was able to revive his career at Roma, where he showed his world class ability on the pitch. Dybala was a key player for Daniele De Rossi’s Roma side, as his wonderful season comsisted of 22 goal contributions where he scored 13 times and also had nine assists. Dybala’s talent was never in doubt as he is without a doubt one of the most technically gifted footballers in the world and the things he can do on the pitch are just entertaining to watch as a spectator.
A highly gifted footballer who will be looking to make an impact next season for De Rossi’s Roma side. He was the main reason behind Roma’s European qualification as he helped them finish 6th.
Alessandro Buongiorno
Buongiorno was amongst the top defenders in the league, playing for Torino FC. The Italian defender’s towering presence at the back was crucial for the Turin side and proved to be clinical for Paolo Vanoli’s side. Torino managed to finish in the top half of the league at 9th position, and Buongiorno was certainly their talisman for the season as he did his defensive duties quite well. The defender won majority of his Aerial duels and barely got dribbled past, which suggested that the Italian had a solid campaign with the Turin side.
However, we will be seeing the Italian play for a different side as Napoli have confirmed the signing of Alessandro Buongiorno. The 25 year old will be a crucial signing for Napoli after their disastrous 2023-24 campaign, where their defence looked shaky all along. This might be the perfect replacement for Kim Min Jae, who left the club last year, which was one of the major factors behind former Scudetto winners’ downfall last season.
Matias Soule
Another Roma player that had a wonderful loan season for the relegated side Frosinone. Despite his side’s disastrous campaign, Soule had a more than decent season with them as he managed to score an impressive total of 11 goals for them. The young winger was loaned out to Frosinone by Juventus and a few days back it was confirmed that the 21-year-old will be joining Roma next season. The pacy winger’s versatility makes him a massive threat to the opposition and Daniele De Rossi will be looking to get the best out of the Argentine.
As we head into the 2024-25 Serie A season, let’s have a look at the in form players that will be looking to make an early impact for their clubs. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
