New Delhi: Tamil Nadu all-rounder Shahrukh Khan smashed his maiden List A hundred against Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Thursday, December 26.
Yash Dayal removed N Jagadeesan and Pradosh Paul on a duck in the opening over after Uttar Pradesh won the toss and opted to field first. Tushar Raheja and Baba Indrajith batted carefully but Aaqib Khan removed Raheja on 15 runs.
Indrajith and Vijay Shankar stitched a 45-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Saurabh Kumar dismissed Indrajith on 27 runs and Vipraj Nigam removed Vijay Shankar on 16 runs. Tamil Nadu were reeling at 68/5 but the 216-run partnership between Shahrukh and Mohamed Ali helped them to post a 285-run target in the 47 overs.

Shahrukh notched up his maiden century in 71 balls and Ali also scored his fifty in 59 balls. Shahrukh amassed an unbeaten 132 runs off 85 balls with the help of 13 boundaries and seven maximums while Ali remained unbeaten on 76 runs.

The IPL 2022 champions Gujarat Titans retained all-rounder Shahrukh Khan for Rs 4 crore ahead of the mega auction. Overall, he has played 40 matches in the IPL and scored 553 runs at a strike rate of 141. Chasing the target, Uttar Pradesh lost six wickets on 140 runs in 29 overs. Sandeep Warrier removed Aryan Juyal on 8 runs in the fifth over while Achyuth dismissed Abhishek Goswami on 14 runs in the 8th over.
