New Delhi: Bangladesh star Shakib Al Hasan has been finally cleared of suspect action, notably after failing the bowling test twice. In the recent reassessment test, Shakib passed it with flying colours. This means he is cleared to bowl again across the formats. His action came under the radar last year, which caused him to suffer months of negativity, but he has successfully cleared the air now.

37-year-old Shakib was excluded for Bangladesh’s Champions Trophy squad as the selectors didn’t want to give him the role of a specialist batter, with his bowling action under scrutiny. The development comes a huge relief for the veteran all-rounder. He had the 2025 ICC event earmarked as his farewell tournament in international cricket but it didn’t go as planned as he was suspended to bowl.

Third-time lucky

According to a report in Cricbuzz, when Shakib was contacted by them regarding the same, he replied, “The news is right (about clearing the bowling test) and I am cleared to bowl again. Shakib got “third-time lucky”, as they say and was quite happy while informing about the development, having cleared the test in England.

His action first fell under scrutiny when he was playing a County Championship match for Surrey against Somerset in September 2024. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) subsequently suspended him after an evaluation that declared his action illegal. He went on to undertake two separate reassessments, first in England and then in India, failing in both, after which he was suspended from bowling.

Shakib, who has been around for Bangladesh for nearly 20 years now, has been a crucial asset for the team. He can be called the spine of his nation’s side.

After failing the bowling action test twice, Shakib Al Hasan has finally cleared it after dealing with months of negativity regarding his suspected action.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
