New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu congratulated Neeraj Chopra for winning the silver medal at the Paris Olympics with his season-best throw of 89.45m at the Stade de France in Paris on Thursday, August 9.
Neeraj won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics and was the defending champion of the competition but Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal with a throw of 92.97m at the Paris Olympics.
Neeraj’s best attempt came in the second throw, which was also his only clean attempt in the men’s javelin throw final. Neeraj’s silver medal takes India’s tally in the Paris Olympics to five medals, which includes four bronze and a sliver.
PM Modi congratulated Neeraj and said that he has shown his brilliance time and again. He also said that India is elated as he comes back with yet another Olympic success.

President Droupadi Murmu also congratulated Neeraj and said that India is proud of him and that his feat will inspire generations to come.
