New Delhi: Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza achieved a special feat for his team during the third T20I match against India at the Harare Sports club. Raza completed the milestone of 5000 T20I, becoming the first Zimbabwe batter to reach to the landmark.
Raza, who scored just 15 runs in the innings, achieved the milestone after completing his 12th run. Meanwhile, his achievement went in vain as India clinched the match by 23 runs after the hosts failed to chase the target of 183.
Raza reaches 5000 runs in 243rd innings
Sikandar Raza reached this milestone in 243 innings, maintaining an impressive strike rate of over 134 and an average of approximately 25. Of these 5000 runs, 2000 were scored while representing the Zimbabwe team. Known for his versatility, Raza has recorded 30 half-centuries in his career, with his highest score being 95. He also contributes effectively with the ball.
Meanwhile, he is the only Zimbabwe batter with 4,000-plus T20 runs and the all-rounder has also made 30 fifties in the shortest format of the game, with the highest score of 95. Apart from this, he has also claimed 142 wickets in the T20I format at an average of 28.01, taking two wickets in Wednesday’s match.
Batting first, India rode on Shubman Gill’s powerful knock of 66 and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 49 to score a massive total against the hosts in the third match of the series. Yashasvi Jaiswal also contributed 36 runs as an all-round show from the visitors helped them take the lead in the series. On the bowling front, Washington Sundar, Avesh Khan and Khaleel Ahmed picked three, two and one wickets respectively. India lead the series 2-1, with two more matches to go.
