‘Soul of our identity’: IPL teams pay tribute to ‘Bharat Mata’ on Mother’s Day 2025

New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) teams made a heartfelt wish on Mother’s Day 2025, not only wishing the mothers of the players but also honouring the mothers of the army soldiers for their courage and selflessness. As the entire world celebrates Mother’s Day on May 11, for India, the day has become quite significant because of the current war-like situation with neighbouring country Pakistan.

IPL 2025, which was immediately suspended a couple of days ago, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took a stance with the Indian armed forces in their war against terror, and so did all the participating teams of the tournament. They posted messages of keeping the “nation first” and above everything in this critical juncture, supporting the BCCI’s decision to halt the tournament for the time being.

India and Pakistan continue their military engagement against each other, and Sunday, which turns out to be the day the entire world dedicates to their mothers, can’t be ignored by the Indians at such a crucial time. Teams like Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) took to social media to pay tribute to the motherland, better known as “Bharat Mata” (Mother India).

They didn’t forget to mention the mothers of the army jawans who are posted at borders, securing the country and protecting its sovereignty. The selflessness with which their mothers send their child into the army to serve the nation is commendable, and the love for the nation that it reflects goes beyond imagination. It surely isn’t easy to let your loved ones walk into the battlefield and not be sure of their return, which speaks volumes of that mother’s courage.
