New Delhi: Legendary batter Vivian Richards wants India to win the T20 World Cup should West Indies fail to do so. He said it while visiting the Indian team’s dressing room after their win over Bangladesh in a Super Eights match.

“if the Men in Maroon falter, I’m backing you,” he said, also presenting the best fielder medal to Suryakumar Yadav for his superb outfield catch at square leg to remove opener Litton Das.

The batting great watched the action at the stadium named after him in Antigua as India posted 196/5 and then restricted Bangladesh to 146/8.

“Well done today, going all the way?,” Richards said in a video posted by the BCCI on its social media platforms.

“What can I say to a team that is already so powerful? You have a good thing going here and I can only say that if the guys in maroon don’t get it done, I will be backing you. Is that reasonable enough?

“As a Caribbean person, really good to see what you have here.”
