Tamil Nadu: Coimbatore’s International Cricket stadium taking shape; details inside

Coimbatore: Coimbatore’s long pending dream for a Cricket Stadium of International Standards has started taking shape. Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin inspected the open-air prison at Ondipudur for developing a cricket stadium in the city. Two lands – one of 20.18 acres and an adjacent land of nine acres – at Ondipudur have been identified as potential sites.

In a post related to this, state sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on X posted that “During the Lok Sabha Election 2024, the Hon’ble Chief Minister promised to build an international cricket stadium in Coimbatore. In this case, today we started the preliminary work to select a suitable place for setting up an international cricket stadium in Coimbatore. Accordingly, today we examined whether there is a possibility of setting up an international cricket stadium in Ondiputhur, Coimbatore. We will ensure that the city of Coimbatore, which excels in industry, rises even further in the field of sports as well as the world’s gaze.”
