Chennai: Counting going on in 39 centres in Tamil Nadu, the ruling DMK is leading 22 Lok Sabha seats including  Kanimozhi in Thoothukudi, DayanidhiMaran CentralChennai, While BJP’s Nainar Nagendran leading in Tirunelveli at the end of the ballot votes counting. Meanwhile, at the national level, the early trends show that BJP is leading in 202 seats, Congress leads in 117 seats across 542 seats. Others: 10

The electoral prospects of 950 candidates in Tamil Nadu, including key contestants including Tamilisai Soundararajan, O Panneerselvam, TR Baalu, Dayanidhi Maran, L Murugan, Kanimozhi, TTV Dhinakaran, and K Annamalai, will be known later in the day.

After the postal ballots, the counting of votes polled in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) begin in 39 centres across Tamil Nadu. Of the total number of voters – 6,23,33,925 in Tamil Nadu, 4,34,58,875 have polled their votes (69.72%) for the Lok Sabha elections.

Of the 3,17,19,665 female voters, 2,21,58,256 (69.85%) cast their votes on April 19. Similarly, of the 3,06,05,793 male voters, 2,12,97,903 (69.58% have exercised their franchise.

The Dharmapuri constituency polled the highest: 81.20% and the Chennai Central constituency polled the lowest: 53.96% There are 23 Lok Sabha constituencies which polled 70% and above while 14 constituencies polled between 60% to 70%. Only two constituencies polled below 60% (Chennai South and Chennai Central).
