Chennai: The Madras High Court on Wednesday granted conditional bail to Felix Gerald, who was arrested for telecasting the interview of political critic Savukku Shankar. The judge who granted Felix Gerald bail also ordered his YouTube channel shut down. He has also stipulated that no controversial interview should be given henceforth.
Earlier, Felix Gerald had filed a second bail petition in the Madras High Court. The petition came up for hearing before Madras High Court Judge TVTamilchelvi. During the argument, lawyer Meghanathan, who appeared on the side of the state police, objected to the bail by saying that Felix Gerald had already filed an affidavit in a similar case in the past stating that he would not speak any more controversially, but he continued to speak like this despite it.
Countering this, senior lawyer John Sathyan, who appeared on behalf of Felix Gerald, said that Felix Gerald has now realized the consequences of his speech and has promised that he will never speak like this again. Following this, Judge TVTamilchelvi ordered that Felix be granted conditional bail.
The High Court judge has ordered that the Red Pix YouTube channel run by Felix Gerald should be closed and that he should file an affidavit in the trial court stating that he will not give any more controversial interviews.
