Earlier on Thursday, Rohit was spotted exiting from the Chennai airport escorted by security personnel while Kohli flew in directly from London in an early-morning flight. Meanwhile, other senior members of the team like Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant had reached the city on Thursday.
This would be Gambhir’s second assignment as the head coach of the team and his first in a Test series. His first assignment as the new coach was a T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka. It will be interesting to see how the Indians handle the Bangla Tigers as they are riding high after coming from a 2-0 triumph over Pakistan. Also, crucial WTC points will be at stake in the series for India who have a big season coming up with series against New Zealand and Australia.
