Team India lands in New Delhi after historic T20 World Cup victory

New Delhi: Team India finally returned home after the T20 World Cup victory in Barbados. BCCI arranged a special Air India chartered flight ‘AIC24WC’ for the T20 World Cup winning team and the team landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on Thursday morning after the 15-hour journey.

Rohit Sharma and Co. defeated South Africa by 7 runs in the final and lifted their second T20 World Cup Trophy on June 29. But after the final, The Men in Blue were stuck in Barbados as Hurricane Beryl made its landfall on July 1. The airport operations in the region were closed and all flights were cancelled.

The Indian team along with their families, staff members and officials were stuck at their hotel. But the team has finally landed in New Delhi and will take a rest in the ITC Maurya Hotel before they meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence at 11 AM.
