Team India to face Pakistan in Champions Trophy 2025 at Lahore? PCB waiting for BCCI approval

New Delhi: After ending the long-standing ICC trophy drought by defeating South Africa in the T20 World Cup final, the Men in Blue will look to add one more ICC trophy to their cabinet when they will take part in Champions Trophy 2025.

As things stand, Pakistan will host their first ICC event after the 1996 Cricket World Cup. Jay Shah has confirmed India’s participation in the Champions Trophy however there is still suspense over whether the Men in Blue will travel to Pakistan for the tournament.

According to a report by PTI, the Pakistan Cricket Board has submitted a draft schedule but the BCCI has yet to approve Team India’s travel to Pakistan. The Men in Blue last visited Pakistan during the Asia Cup 2008 but after the 26/11 terror attack, India has not travelled to Pakistan for any tournament nor played any bilateral series against them.

India, Pakistan in same group

According to the same report, The Champions Trophy is scheduled to start on February 19. Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi will host all the matches of the tournament. Team India will play all of their matches in Lahore. India is placed in Group A along with Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand.

Australia, South Africa, England and Afghanistan are placed in Group B. The Men in Blue will face Pakistan on March 1 if BCCI accepts PCB’s proposal. Pakistan are also the defending champions of the tournament, they defeated the Virat Kohli-led side by 180 runs in 2017.

The Men in Blue recently defeated Pakistan by 6 runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Babar Azam-led side lost their first two matches of the tournament and failed to qualify for the Super 8 stage. After the early exit, skipper Babar Azam and his team faced a lot of criticism from former Pakistan cricketers and fans.

After BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced that Team India will participate in the Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has submitted a draft schedule of the Tournament.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
