New Delhi: Indian shuttlers HS Prannoy and Satish Karunakaran shined at the ongoing Malaysia Masters badminton tournament in Kuala Lumpur by registering stunning wins while it was curtains for double Olympic-medallist PV Sindhu as she crashed out of the event. Both Prannoy and Karunakaran entered the second round of the men’s singles with stunning performances in the opening round respectively.

Taking the court first, Prannoy stunned fifth seed player Kenta Nishimoto of Japan 19-21, 21-17, 21-16 in a hard-fought opening round match that lasted for one hour and 22 minutes. Karunakaran, like Prannoy, was flawless in his work, registering an upset by stunning third seed Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei 21-13, 21-14 in just 39 minutes.

Overall in a productive day for the Indian male shuttlers, badminton player Ayush Shetty also advanced to the next round after getting past Brian Yang of Canada 20-22, 21-10, 21-8.
The terrible moment for Indian badminton came when ace shuttler Sindhu crashed out of the event as her poor form continued. Sindhu failed to get past the opening round challenge of the Super 500 tournament, losing 11-21, 21-14, 15-21 against Nguyen Thuy Linh of Vietnam, facing disappointing loss.
