Hyderabad: Telangana cabinet on Friday decided to waive farmer crop loan of up to Rs 2 lakh taken before December 9, 2023.
Speaking to the media after the cabinet meeting, CM Revanth Reddy said that Congress promised the loan waiver and that it will now be implemented.
“If Congress Party, Sonia Gandhi say anything, it is written in stone. The greatness of our leaders is to stand up in the face of any situation and to keep the word given. On May 6, 2022 Rahul Gandhi promised loan waiver in Warangal Rythu Declaration Sabha. As per Rahul Gandhi’s promise, the cabinet has decided to waive crop loans up to Rs.2 lakhs,” he said.
Reddy further stated that the cutoff date will be December 9, 2023. “The previous government waived off loans in 2014 and 2018 after Telangana state came into existence. The previous government fixed December 11, 2018 as the cutoff date whereas our government has considered the cutoff date to December 2023. 47 lakh farmers will benefit from the loan waiver.
We have set up a ministerial sub-committee on the implementation of Rythu Bharosa. The sub-committee will report by July 15. Based on that report, we will finalize the farmer assurance procedures. We have estimated that Rs.31 thousand crores will be required for loan waiver,” he noted.
Revanth Reddy said that 47 lakh farmers in the state will benefit from the crop loan waiver and an estimated Rs 31,000 crore is required for the waiver. Telangana States News India: Top News India, States News, States News Headlines, Online State News India, State Politics news
