Hyderabad: The chief minister and the state government appear to be unhappy with revenue collection in the first quarter of FY 2025, reports said.
Revanth Reddy reportedly opined that the revenue collection till the end of June was not sufficient and said that the departments which generate revenue must set targets and devise ways to achieve annual targets to increase state revenues.
On Thursday, the chief minister held a review meeting on the progress made on revenue generation of Excise, Commercial taxes, Registration & Stamps, Mining and Transport departments and asked them to meet the annual targets set for them.
The meeting was attended by Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramaraka, Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari and others at the Secretariat.
New avenues to generate revenue:
He also asked officials to find new avenues to generate revenue and show efficiency in tax collection and asked them to ensure that no tax evasion takes place. He stated that such review meetings will be held in the first week of every month to inquire about the progress.
The CM emphasised officials to work on the ground and prevent tax evasion by big commercial business establishments and noted that revenues through VAT on fuel decreased in recent times and asked officials to see if tweaking taxes on aviation fuel is possible.
Revanth Reddy also inquired about reasons for low revenues from liquor sales and asked officials to take steps to prevent the entry of non-duty paid liquor into the state.
