New Delhi: Indian speedster Mohammed Siraj on Tuesday was felicitated by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy after the former returned to his hometown Hyderabad post India’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. Siraj, who brought laurels to Telangana with his performance at the international stage, was rewarded with a residential plot and a government job.
Siraj, who met the CM in Hyderabad on Thursday, was accompanied by former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin. R&B Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy were also present during the felicitation ceremony arranged for the Indian pacer. The CM also directed the officials to take necessary steps to identify land in Hyderabad or around it immediately. The officials were asked to take steps to give him a government job.
Siraj gifts Team Indian jersey to CM
After sharing the winning moments with the Chief Minister, Siraj gifted Team India’s jersey to Mr. Reddy. “It is a matter of pride that our Telangana cricketer was a member of the World Cup-winning team. Wish Siraj would inspire many more youngsters to dream big and realise their goals,” Mr Revanth Reddy said.
Earlier, the Indian pacer was received warmly by a plethora of fans who greeted him upon his arrival in Telangana. Siraj reached Hyderabad after participating in Team India’s World Cup celebration in Delhi and Mumbai. He would be away from his cricketing activities till the commencement of the Sri Lanka tour, which begins on July 27.
Team India, who are currently playing a T20I series against Zimbabwe, will lock horns against Sri Lanka ending this month for a three match ODI and T20I series. Siraj only participated in three matches in the showpiece event and picked up a solitary wicket. However, in the three games, he proved to very economical.
