Telangana: Rat infestation, other food violations found at Grill 9 in Secunderabad

Hyderabad: Food Safety officials continued inspections on various food businesses in Secunderabad including Vivaha Bhojanambu, a restaurant owned by Tollywood actor Sundeep Kishan and Grill 9.

Taskforce inspection at Grill 9 found possible rat infestation as rat faeces and burrows were observed in a store room while food articles stored inside the refrigerator were not covered and labelled properly.

Veg and non veg food articles were stored together. Refrigerator was found in unhygienic condition while pest control records for premises and Medical Fitness Certificates for food handlers were not available, the taskforce said in a statement.

FSSAI license true copy was not displayed at the premises and Potli Masala (35pkts expired in April 2022), Sauce (1.4kg), Garlic Chilli Sauce (13pkts) were found to be expired. Cosmetic Rose Water (250 ml) was found in store room and with suspicion of being used as food ingredient, discarded the item on the spot.

Vivaha Bhojanambu:

At the restaurant owned by Tollywood actor Sundeep Kishan, Taskforce officials found expired products. Chittimutyalu Rice (25kg) was found with Best Before date as 2022 and 500gms of Coconut Grates found with synthetic food colours. Stock has been discarded, an official statement said.

Raw food articles & semi prepared foods stored in steel containers were covered but not labelled properly. Some dustbins were not covered with lids and water stagnation observed in the drains inside kitchen premises. Medical fitness certificates for food handlers were not available, officials said.

Rat found in Sambar, Lizard in breakfast in Medak:

Meanwhile, in Medak district, at least 35 students fell ill at a government hostel in Medak district after they were served breakfast which contained a Lizard.

After having the meal, the students experienced symptoms like Diarrhoea and vomiting. A cook and an assistant cook were terminated for negligence.

At Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) campus canteen in Sangareddy, a rat was found in Sambar and a video of it went viral online. Health minister ordered a probe into the incident.
