Hyderabad: Two children were killed and two others were injured when an old wall collapsed due to heavy rain in the early hours of Monday morning at Babul Reddy Nagar, Mailardevpally.
The children Noor Jaan, 8, Asif Parveen, 3, were playing near the wall when it collapsed and fell on them. They died on the spot, police said.
The injured were shifted to a hospital and are under treatment. The bodies of the children were sent to Osmania Hospital for post-mortem, Mailardevpally Inspector P Madhu said.
Migrant families from Bihar, Odisha and other regions live in Babul Reddy Nagar and work in nearby areas. At least 15 families live in the area, which have dilapidated buildings and are at risk of collapsing anytime. Local residents have asked concerned officials to take action to prevent any further mishaps.
Police have registered a case and an investigation is on.
