New Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sought clarity from the International Cricket Council (ICC) on the hosting of the Champions Trophy 2025 as they have been informed that India will not travel for the marquee tournament. But the PCB has maintained that there has been no word on a hybrid model being proposed. ICC told the PCB that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wouldn’t send its team to Pakistan after the decision was conveyed to the cricket governing body.
“There is no talk about having the Champions Trophy on a Hybrid Model system as of now,” a reliable PCB source told PTI. During the Asia Cup last year, a hybrid model was adopted in which India’s matches were held in Sri Lanka while other matches were played in Pakistan, as originally scheduled. Several media reports have claimed that Dubai can host India’s games in the event, which will be conducted in February next year.
“An email is to be sent to the ICC with the advice of its legal department in which the Board wanted clarifications from the ICC on the Indian decision. As of now, the entire situation is being gauged by the PCB. No decision has been taken on the next step. Yes the PCB is in touch with the government for consultation and directives if required,” the source added.
PCB threatens ICC
The source further added that the Pakistani board was awaiting the policy guidelines from the government regarding India, which will be cited to ask for clarification from the ICC about India’s refusal to participate in the tournament. He also highlighted the legal implications from the commercial partners that the ICC could face, provided they have given an undertaking to the broadcasters and the sponsors that all top cricket-playing nations will partake in the tournament.
“There would be legal implications from commercial partners as the ICC has provided undertakings to the broadcasters, sponsors that all top cricket playing nations will participate in its tournaments,” the source. Team India’s travel to Pakistan was barred by the Indian government after the deadly attacks in Mumbai in 2008. Since then, the two teams only face each other in the ICC tournaments.

The PCB is reportedly irked by India’s refusal to send their team to Pakistan to participate in the Champions Trophy 2025. They are seeking clarity from the ICC and have also issued a bit if a threat. Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
