New Delhi: India and South Africa will lock horns in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 at The Kensington Oval in Barbados. Both teams had a sensational journey to the final as they are still unbeaten in the tournament but past performances will not matter in the big game.
Both the teams enjoyed a confident run in the ongoing tournament. The Men in Blue defeated the likes of Pakistan, Australia and England to secure their place in the third consecutive ICC final while South Africa also defeated England, hosts West Indies and underdogs Afghanistan to book their place in the final of the T20 World Cup.
Both teams are performing well in all three departments with their fielders, bowlers and batters making crucial contributions. South Africa has some dangerous players in their ranks, who can create some serious problems for India in the final.
Quinton de Kock has been in great form with the bat while Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller also made some important contributions in their unbeaten run. Their pace bowlers also picked up plenty of wickets in the powerplay and death overs while their spinners controlled the game in the middle overs.
Three South Africa players India need to be wary of in T20 World Cup 2024 final:
1) Quinton de Kock
Quinton de Kock is one of South Africa’s big-match players and he will look to get a big score against the familiar Indian bowling attack. He plays both pace and spin very well and can take on any bowler. The left-hander is known for giving powerful starts to his team in the powerplay. If he manages to settle down then it will become difficult for the Indian bowlers to take his wicket.
Quinton is in great form in the ongoing T20 World Cup and has scored 204 runs in 8 matches. He is known to turn up in big matches and will be looking to make an impact in the final against the India.
2) Tabraiz Shamsi
Tabraiz Shamsi has been one of the best spin bowlers in the ongoing tournament. Shamsi along with Keshav Maharaj has troubled many batters in the middle overs and made run-scoring difficult. The wrist spinner has many variations up his sleeves and can trouble any batter in the match.
Shamsi has a great record against Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav and will be the key player for South Africa in the final. He played 4 matches in the T20 World Cup so far and has picked up 11 wickets. The Indian batters need to tackle him well to end the long-standing ICC trophy drought.
3) Anrich Nortje
The South African pace bowler has been in sensational form in the ongoing tournament and picked up wickets in the powerplay and death overs. So far, he took 13 wickets in the 8 matches and is 6th on the list of highest wicket-takers in the tournament.
He has the ability to bowl at speeds exceeding 150+ while also possessing great variations to trouble the batters. Indian top-order batters need to be careful against him in the powerplay and also have to look to score runs.
