Chennai: Southern Railway has announced that the weekly special train running between Tirunelveli – Mettupalayam will be extended by one more month. Southern Railway is running various special trains to avoid the rush of passengers during the summer holidays. Similarly, special trains are run on festival days and special holidays to avoid crowding. In that way, a weekly special train is running between Nellai to Mettupalayam and Mettupalayam to Nellai. This train service has now been extended till July.

Train (06030) departs Tirunelveli on Sundays at 7.00 pm and reaches Mettupalayam at 7.30 am on the next day via Ambasamudram, Tenkasi, Rajapalayam, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Palani and Coimbatore.
The train departs from Mettupalayam at 7.45 pm on Mondays and reaches Tirunelveli at 7.45 am the next day. According to the announcement, Tirunelveli to Mettupalayam train will be operated on Sundays July 7, 14, 21, and 28, and Mettupalayam to Nellai on Mondays July 8, 15, 22, and 29.
