New Delhi: Team India’s much-anticipated homecoming is not far away. Hurricane Beryl has forced the Rohit Sharma-led World Cup-winning squad to stay in Barbados since the Asian giants lifted the world title on Saturday after edging past South Africa in a thriller. The inclement weather has delayed the historic homecoming of the Indian heroes, who ended the 13-year-long World Cup drought.

The Men in Blue and the coaching staff were originally scheduled to land in India on Monday but the plans were put on hold after the weather worsened in the Caribbean Island. Reports later confirmed the team will arrive on Wednesday night in New Delhi and meet with PM Narendra Modi.

But according to the latest reports that surfaced earlier this morning, Team India will leave Barbados today (Wednesday) and arrive in Delhi in the early hours of Thursday.

A video of a special plane reaching Barbados airport is also going viral on social media. The Boeing 777 Air India plane will fly the Indian players, team management and the journalists, that have been stranded in Barbados for the past three days.

Open bus victory parade in Mumbai

According to multiple reports, Team India will meet PM Modi after landing in New Delhi. Following the meeting with the PM, the Men In Blue will travel to Mumbai, where they will celebrate the World Cup triumph with the fans in an open bus victory parade.

The victory parade will bring back memories of the 2011 ODI World Cup celebrations when the MS Dhoni-led team celebrated the win in an open bus parade.
