New Delhi: Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise lived up to the fans’ expectations and firmly reasoned why he is an all-time showstopper with his heroics in the Paris Olympics 2024 closing ceremony. It was long reported that Cruise would be performing stunts at the closing event of the Summer Games in Paris and it ultimately turned out to be the case on Sunday, when he decided to leave a long-lasting impression on his already excessive fan following.
The ceremony was held to pull curtains on Paris Games 2024 which went through 17 days of sporting action and the organisers decided to pull in Cruise to light up the occasion with his well-known and acclaimed stunts that he has been known for a long time now. Cruise was a part of the traditional segment where the Olympic flag had to be handed over to Los Angeles – the venue where the 2028 Summer Games will take place.
How did it all happen?
To begin with, the 62-year-old Cruise first climbed to the top of the stadium and got himself harnessed and roped in with all the necessary safety equipment. In the blink of an eye, he set his foot off the rooftop and fell down in fashion in the middle of all the fans. As usual, there wasn’t even the slightest fear on his face as it all seemed something usual for him.

He made his way to the athletes after landing in the arena and on his way, shook hands and took selfies with the fans. But this wasn’t it as what followed next was something to remember for a long time. It is understood that according to tradition, the Olympic flag needs to be handed over to the venue hosting the next edition of the Summer Games. Los Angeles will be hosting the marquee event in 2028, for which Cruise got on a motorbike, fixed the flag behind it, and rode out of the stadium through a crowd while standing.
Just as he got out, he was next seen in an apparent pre-recorded video segment riding through Paris until reaching a plane and ultimately making it to Los Angeles, defying space and time. Cruise went straight to the iconic “Hollywood” sign and as the camera zoomed out, the Olympic rings replaced the double “o”s in the word Hollywood. These are just Cruise things, as he is known for his love of stunt work.

Netizens hail Cruise
Just as the clips of his stunts were out on social media, the netizens applauded Cruise for the courage with which he accomplished the “mission” and for taking the standards up of the closing ceremony. While some found it relatable to what he does in his notable “Mission Impossible” film series, some just hailed him for performing a risky stunt in the middle of a huge crowd.
He’s borderline crazy but he’s probably America’s last real movie star.

Tom Cruise stunned the Paris Olympics closing ceremony crowd at the Stade de France as he jumped off the roof of the stadium to fly his way in and rode out standing on a motorbike while carrying the Olympics flag – all in the most “Tom Cruise” way possible.
