New Delhi: The ninth edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin on October 3, Thursday in the UAE. The ten-team event will be played till October 20 in two cities of the UAE – Sharjah and Dubai. Earlier, the showpiece event was to be hosted by Bangladesh but due to the political unrest in the country, the venue was shifted to the UAE in August.
Dominant Australia have been the most successful team in the marquee event and the defending champions would be eyeing to continue their show in 9th edition of the premier event. Out of the total eight editions, the Aussies have clinched the title six times, while England and the West Indies are the only two other title winners. Meanwhile, India too would be looking for a good show and will try hard to grab the trophy for the maiden time.

Beth Mooney (Australia)
Stylish batter Beth Mooney is one of the best players to watch out for in the upcoming women’s T20 World Cup. Australian Mooney currently tops the ICC T20 batter rankings and is one of the big names Australia have in their squad. She will play a pivotal role in the campaign of the defending champions.
Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa)
Laura Wolvaardt, who has a wealth of experience, will prove as a vital cog for the South Africa side in the showpiece event. Having been the runners-up in the last edition, the right-handed batter would aim to give her best shot for the Proteas. She is ranked fifth in the T20 rankings, her country’s highest in any discipline, and has one century and 11 fifties in 66 T20 innings for her country.
Sophie Ecclestone (England)
