New Delhi: In India, trains getting delayed for several reasons is a phenomenon that many of us have faced. Delayed trains create a problem for the passengers as their schedule goes out of the window in that case. On top of that, they are left stranded with the train tickets they bought.
However, what many do not know is that if a train is delayed, the passenger can get a full refund. The Ministry Of Railways has introduced this to provide financial compensation to passengers who are facing unexpected delays in their travel plans due to the train being late.
If a passenger has an e-ticket and the scheduled train journey is cancelled, then the person does not have to go anywhere to cancel the ticket. When the train is cancelled, a refund is automatically processed and there is no need to file a Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR). But if the train is delayed by more than three hours and the passenger decides not to travel, it is important to file a TDR before the train departs.
