Day 2 of Congressional hearings over the US Secret Service oversights in the attempted assassination of Donald Trump is about to begin shortly. On day 1, Kim Cheatle, Director of Secret Service spoke before a bipartisan group of lawmakers. Lawmakers from both the parties grilled Cheatle and some lawmakers even asked her to resign.
So far, Cheatle has resisted the calls for resignation. However, she has admitted that the Secret Service failed in its duty to protest the former president.
She said that she is the “best person to lead the Secret Service at this time.” She added that “we must learn what happened and I will move heaven and earth to ensure an incident like July 13th does not happen again”.
