‘Tu Malinga bana hua hai’: Virat Kohli sledges Shakib Al Hasan in 1st Test – WATCH

New Delhi: India’s star batter Virat Kohli departed early in both innings of the first Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It was a disappointing outing for the experienced batter who only managed to score 6 and 17 runs in both innings.

Hasan Mahmud dismissed Kohli as he tried to drive a full outside-off delivery but only managed to get an outside edge and handed an easy catch to the keeper. He again walked out to bat in the last session of day 2 but was removed by Mehidy Hasan.

Kohli was looking good in the middle but the Bangladeshi spinner bowled a full delivery and he was looking to play a shot through the on-side. He got beaten on the inside edge to get rapped on the front pad. After having a word with Shubman Gill, Kohli decided to not take the review and went back to the pavilion but there was a spike on ultra edge.

During the 15th over of the second innings, Shakib Al Hasan bowled back-to-back yorkers to Kohli. After the over, Kohli had a chat with Shakib and compared him with former Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga.

“You are my Mali,” Kohli told Shakib. When the Bangladeshi all-rounder did not understand, the Indian batter made it clear by saying, “Malinga bana hua, yorker pe yorker (You have been landing yorkers like Malinga).

After the brilliant batting display, Bumrah and Co. troubled the Bangladeshi batters and got the visitors all out for 149 runs. Bumrah picked up 4 wickets while Siraj, Akash Deep and Jadeja also took two wickets each. The Men in Blue lost three wickets in the second innings and have a lead of 308 runs.
