New Delhi: The Champions League knockout play-off second legs delivered drama, dominance, and heartbreak as teams battled for a place in the last 16. Kylian Mbappe stole the spotlight with a stunning hat-trick to send Real Madrid past Manchester City, while PSV pulled off a thrilling comeback against Juventus. PSG humiliated Brest with a record-breaking 7-0 win, and Borussia Dortmund comfortably saw off Sporting.

Each match had its own story, from tactical masterclasses to late drama, as Europe’s elite moved one step closer to glory. With the knockout stage now set, the road to Wembley promises even more excitement.

Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Sporting

Borussia Dortmund secured their place in the Champions League last 16 with a routine 0-0 draw against Sporting, sealing a 3-0 aggregate win. Niko Kovac’s side controlled the game without much trouble, though they failed to find the net despite several chances.

Sporting, already trailing from the first leg, showed little urgency and left star striker Viktor Gyokeres at home as a precaution. Marcel Sabitzer went close twice in the first half, while Dortmund had a penalty early in the second, only for Rui Silva to deny Serhou Guirassy. Giovanni Reyna then hit the post, and Emre Can had a goal ruled out for offside.

Kovac admitted it wasn’t a great game but praised his team’s control. Sporting’s European run ended in disappointment, with their form nosediving since Ruben Amorim’s exit. Rui Borges’ side now turn their focus to defending their league title.

Real Madrid 3-1 Manchester City

Kylian Mbappe delivered a masterclass at the Bernabeu, scoring a stunning hat-trick as Real Madrid cruised past Manchester City 3-1 in the second leg of their Champions League knockout play-off, securing a 6-3 aggregate win.

City had been in control of the tie late in the first leg but collapsed in the final minutes. This time, they never looked close. Mbappe struck inside four minutes after a defensive lapse, before doubling his tally in the 34th minute with a composed finish past Ederson. He sealed his hat-trick on the hour mark with another clinical strike, leaving City’s defence helpless.

The visitors barely threatened until stoppage time, when Nico Gonzalez tapped in after a free-kick hit the bar. Pep Guardiola admitted Real Madrid were the better side, while City now turn their focus to the Premier League title race. Meanwhile, Los Blancos march into the quarter-finals with Mbappe leading the charge.

PSG 7-0 Brest

Paris Saint-Germain stormed into the Champions League round of 16 in emphatic fashion, thrashing Brest 7-0 at home to seal a dominant 10-0 aggregate victory.

With a 3-0 lead from the first leg, PSG took their time before Bradley Barcola opened the scoring after 20 minutes. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia soon followed with his first Champions League goal for the club, and Vitinha made it three just before the hour mark. Desire Doue added a fourth minutes later before Nuno Mendes, Goncalo Ramos, and Senny Mayulu completed the rout.

Brest never looked capable of causing an upset, and PSG’s attacking firepower proved too much. They now await either Barcelona or Liverpool in the next round, while their seven different goalscorers set a new Champions League record. It was a statement performance from Luis Enrique’s side as they continue their pursuit of European glory.

PSV 3-1 Juventus

PSV pulled off a dramatic comeback to eliminate Juventus from the Champions League, winning 4-3 on aggregate after extra time. Ryan Flamingo’s late goal sealed a famous victory as the Dutch side reached the last 16 for the first time since 2007.

Trailing 2-1 from the first leg, PSV levelled the tie when Ivan Perisic fired home early in the second half. Juventus responded through Timothy Weah’s long-range strike, but Ismael Saibari’s close-range finish forced extra time. Flamingo then capitalised on a rebound in the 98th minute to complete the turnaround.

Juventus had progressed from 20 consecutive European knockout ties after winning the first leg, but that run ended in Eindhoven. Meanwhile, Perisic became the oldest player to score in both legs of a Champions League knockout tie at 36 years and 17 days.

The Champions League knockout play-off second legs delivered drama and dominance as Real Madrid, PSG, Borussia Dortmund, and PSV secured their places in the last 16, with Kylian Mbappe shining brightest.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
