European Qualifier rankings.
Group A
In Group A, Germany and Switzerland have qualified for the final 16. Hungary are one of the top contenders for reaching the last 16 as they are one of the best third-placed sides. However, they have to wait for the rest of the group games to be completed to confirm their place.
Group B
In Group B Spain have been through to final 16 as the Group winners. Italy can be through to the knockouts as runners-up if they don’t lose against Croatia. The reigning champions will be knocked out in a scenario where they lose and Spain are beaten by Albania. Croatia can end as second in the Greoup if they beat Italy and Albani fail to beat Spain.
Group C
In Group C, table toppers England need to avoid defeat against Slovenia in their last group game to progress beyond Group C. A win will assure the previous edition’s runner’s up make it to the next level. If Denmark fail to win against Serbia, England will get to qualify still. Denmark and Slovenia will both progress if they in turn win. Serbia will finish in the top two in a scenario they win against Denmark and Slovenia fail to beat England.
Group D
The race in Group D really, as the top three teams are separated by just one point. The outcome of the group stages could see each of these teams finishing in first, second, or third place. The Netherlands have a crucial match ahead. A victory or a draw against Austria will secure them a spot in the top two and clear them for the knockouts.
If France don’t lose to Poland, they will qualify last-16 spot if they. Austria will finish in the top two if they beat the Netherlands. Poland’s journey in the competition came to an end after France’s draw with the Netherlands on Friday. They became the first team to be eliminated, marking a significant turn of events in Group D.
Group E
After 2 matches, Group E sees all four teams have been on the same number of points after two games, a first in the Euros. All four teams with a win on Wednesday can go into the last 16; however, none of the teams would be sure of being in the top spot with a victory.
A point will be enough for Belgium, who will play Ukraine. Romania will face Slovakia for their final group match. If both games are drawn, goal difference will decide who finishes at what place in the points table as all teams would have the same points. In such conditions, Belgium and Romania would advance, with Slovakia hoping to be one of the best third-placed teams. Ukraine would be out.
Group F
Portugal are through to the last 16 as group winners after winning their group games. Turkey will be through to the knockouts if they remain undefeated against the Czech Republic, and Georgia’s result against Portugal won’t impact their standings.
The Czechs have to win against Turkey and hope Georgia fails to register a win against Portugal. It will then come down to a difference in the goal.
Georgia’s debut Euros campaign will be hampered by the task of beating Portugal. For them to qualify, Czech Republic must beat Turkey. Thereafter, it will come down to the difference in goals.
Third-placed teams
The four best-placed third-placed teams will go into the last 16, with the last two going out. After Match Day 2, Austria, Slovenia, Hungary and Slovakia look as the best ones to qualify. However, the final list will be determined by their last game performance.
