New Delhi: France manage to pull off a more than comfortable win against Belgium who were left to do some self searching on the pitch after a rather disappointing performance. Belgium did produce a few chances in the first half as they were looking much more livelier on the pitch. It was Dodi Lukebakio who had the chance to get Belgium the lead as he managed to run past the French defender only to play a ball inside the box, which travelled towards the patch of Openda who just couldn’t reach it to finish off.
It was a great chance for Tedesco’s men to take the lead but it just wouldn’t sit for them. However, they were made to pay for the missed chances as it was Randal Kolo Muani who scored the opening goal of the game for France. Belgium struggled to get the ball out of their own half and it fell to Dembele, who took a weak shot which was palmed towards Kolo Muani by Belgian keeper, Casteels and Kolo Muani managed to put it past him to make it 1-0 for France.
Belgium looked down and out after the goal aa France kept on dominating, constantly threatening their territory in the second half. They soon rewarded with a second goal, as Ousmane Dembele beat two Belgian defenders to take a thunderous shot to beat Casteels and make it 2-0. It was a wonder comeback victory for France after their opening game disappointments against Italy. However, for Belgium, this was their third consecutive loss against the Les Bleus as they couldn’t capitalise and add to their strong start to the campaign.
Player of the match: Ousmane Dembele
Ousmane Dembele was hands down the best player on the pitch, as he was involved in both the goals that France managed to score. Besides, he was France’s main man, responsible in each of their attacking plays. Thanks to Dembele’s outstanding work, the home team’s lead grows to 2-0. Theate was stopped in his tracks as the winger danced inside before slamming a left-footed shot into the top-left corner. Unsighted, Casteels coud only watch the ball swell in the back of his net before moving too late. Dembele was without a doubt the player of the match who will be looking to carry this form in the next match.
