Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: High-Speed Trial Results & Performance

Important factors such as braking efficiency, air suspension, and coupler force were also tested during the trials. The tests began at a speed of 130 km/h and were gradually increased to 140, 150, and 160 km/h by January 1. On January 2, the train reached a speed of 180 km/h over a 40 km stretch between Kota and Laban, simulating real operational conditions with weight equivalent to passengers.

The Vande Bharat sleeper train is currently in its second phase of trials in the West Central Railway Zone. The Research Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO) based in Lucknow is in charge of these trials.

Last week, the RDSO completed oscillation trials in the Jhansi Division, where they tested speeds up to 115 km/h under different configurations, including loaded and empty modes, with both inflated and deflated settings.
