New Delhi: An icon of hard work, passion, determination, and fitness, 39-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo has an endless list of accolades and milestones that he has achieved in his glorious career, spanning over 20 careers. Last night, in his country’s opening game in the 2024-25 edition of the UEFA Nations League, the Portuguese captain and his country took on Luka Modric’s Croatia in Lisbon, Portugal.
Playing in his home country, in a city where he made a name for himself as a teenager, Ronaldo achieved yet another milestone in his career. Nuno Mendes had the ball at his feet and he played a pinpoint cross in the middle of the box, the ball landed right at the feet of Ronaldo, whose first-time side-footed volley went past the Croatian goalkeeper to make it 2-0 on the night for Portugal, and 900 for the man who scored it. Take a look at all of his goals from numero uno to the goal against Croatia.

With that goal against Croatia, the 39-year-old became the first person in the history of the sport to reach 900 career goals for both club and country. While he already sat top of the list of footballers with the most goals, he distanced himself even more from the rest of the pack, with Lionel Messi sitting just behind him at 859.
The Portuguese star was emotional after reaching such a historic milestone and that was visible in his celebration after the goal. Ronaldo was quoted after the match saying, “It was emotional because it’s a milestone.” He spoke about how important and difficult it is to maintain physical as well as psychological fitness to reach such a unique milestone in one’s career.
Out of his 900 career goals, a whopping 131 of those came for his national team while the rest of the goals are divided amongst his five clubs. He started his career in Lisbon with Sporting CP, scoring five goals for them before his big move. Unsurprisingly, Ronaldo scored most of his goals for Real Madrid ending his Los Blancos career with 450 goals. Next up is Manchester United for whom he scored 145 goals. The Portuguese star even reached triple digits with Juventus, scoring 101 goals for them and is currently on 68 goals with Al-Nassr.
