Vinicius Jr answers Ballon d’Or snub with brilliant hat-trick in Real Madrid win

New Delhi: Less than two weeks after missing out on the Ballon d’Or to Manchester City’s Rodri, Vinicius Junior fired back with a stellar hat-trick, leading Real Madrid to a resounding 4-0 win over Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabéu. For Vinicius, this was no ordinary match; it was a statement game, proving his determination to continue shining after the awards snub.

Vinicius opened the scoring in the 34th minute, receiving a pass from Jude Bellingham on the left wing. He dribbled past three defenders with ease before sending the ball into the back of the net. This marked Real Madrid’s first open-play goal in three games and Vinicius’s first since the Ballon d’Or announcement. He shared a brief celebration with his teammates before hugging manager Carlo Ancelotti, a sign of the unity and determination that characterises this Real Madrid side.

Bellingham followed up with his first goal of the season, chipping a clever lob over Osasuna’s goalkeeper Sergio Herrera to give Real Madrid a comfortable lead at halftime. But it was Vinicius who kept the crowd buzzing in the second half. In the 61st minute, a superb long pass from goalkeeper Andriy Lunin found Vinicius in space. He took it in stride, rounded Herrera with a no-look move, and easily slotted in his second goal.

Just eight minutes later, Vinicius completed his hat-trick, capitalising on a well-timed pass from Brahim Díaz. The Brazilian’s final goal sealed the 4-0 scoreline, giving Real Madrid a confidence-boosting win after recent disappointments.

With this hat-trick, Vinicius now boasts 12 goals and five assists this season, underlining his influence and consistency. Though the Ballon d’Or may have eluded him this year, his performance sent a clear message: Vinicius is here to compete for more accolades and help Real Madrid in their title race.
